A 'Critique' means you have to say something negative, and I'm happy to say that it's pretty tough to find anything negative about this work! Still, if it's a critique you want, here it is: Although very artistically rendered, the word 'Sphinx' covers the girl's shoulders. The rest of her is so 'cool' (for lack of a better word) I am left wishing I could see her in her entirety, without the presence of the words. Naturally however, that still leaves the question of where to put the word 'Sphinx'... so... you may have taken the only real option available. As I said, it was a critique you wanted, so I had to look deep. ;-) Now I can tell you what I LIKE about this work!

I'm involved with FIRST Robotics as a mentor, and because I have two daughters in the program, I always delight in seeing young girls in these competitions... simply because they continue to break the stereotypes of what teenage girls are 'supposed' to do in life. When I look at this work, I see a very pretty young girl, brimming with intelligence and confidence, with a friendly yet very competitive expression on her face.... and this is what FIRST Robotics is all about... friendly competition. What I like most about it is that her face is VERY youthful... you've made her more of a kitten than a cat... which translates to me that FIRST Robotics captures these young women (and young men) very early in life and teaches them (in a fun and exciting way) that our world needs and will benefit from thinkers, designers and problem-solvers more than it has ever has before. Your work shows the eagerness of young girls and boys who step up to this challenge through FIRST Robotics. If your goal was to capture the spirit of the FIRST Robotics Program, it's my opinion that you've outdone yourself! She is awesome, and represents your team (and all of FIRST Robotics) very well!

LOVE IT!! (But still, I love your work from last year even more... of the girl carrying the wrench! That was the best logo in all of FIRST Robotics... EVER... if you ask me!) ;-)

Our coach this year Alexis (who campaigned hard for that very long complicated name Exxio Auditonimous) would agree with you wholeheartedly but I suspect he will grow to love this robot very much as well.
By the way I'm coming down to your home regional in Pittsburgh to be your lead que. See you in week 3.

You as well! We're with Team 48 now, out of Warren Ohio, Delphi E.L.I.T.E. We were at Rochester together a few months back... had I known it was you folks there, I would have introduced myself and said hello! I might see you at Pittsburgh anyway... some of our sister teams will be there and I will be shooting photographs as well as cheering them on. If you are there, I'll see you in your pit... my name is Greg! Take care and happy Frisbee-ing this season! ;-)

Actually, not, for me! My team will be there, but unfortunately I was unable to get that week off from work. My wife and daughters will be the there, but the old man has to work! :-( Good luck to you anyway! Happy Shooting! ;-)
